The short film “The Vicious Cycle” tells the story of Maria (pseudonym), a 51-year-old Peruvian woman living in Lima. From a young age she has witnessed many violent situations and has gone through two abusive relationships as an adult. This is not an unfamiliar story in Peru as violence against women is deeply ingrained in its culture. Maria was able to break the vicious cycle of abuse with the help of a feminist organization.
